Banting Grey List

Banting Grey List
Whilst Xylitol Is a Healthy Sugar Substitute For Baked Goods, It’s On the Banting Grey List

The Banting Grey List consists of those foods that could possibly be good for you but they also violate some of the Banting rules.

For instance sugar-free ice cream or Banting cookies may not cause any weight or health issues but they just don’t meet the Banting diet requirements.

Whilst sugar-free & gluten-free treats or breads that you see in the supermarkets may contain other harmful ingredients, they would certainly be a better choice than the sugar rich treats, breads & other foods you’ll find on the Banting Red List.

Therefore, these types of foods fall into a grey area but can be eaten without any expected weight gain.

The Banting Grey List Of Foods

Treats

  • Banting baked goods, including cakes, cupcakes or any sugar-free desserts
  • Sugar-free ice cream

Sweeteners

  • Xylitol
  • Erythritol
  • Isomalt
  • Stevia powder
  • Sucralose

Drinks

  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Protein shakes
  • Supplements

Vegetarian Proteins

Lastly, just remember that products that claim to be gluten-free or sugar-free could be just that, however many have alternative sweeteners or other non-Banting approved ingredients

Sweeteners “hidden” in food could mess with your healthy eating diet & cause weight gain as sweetness in foods is addictive & drives hunger always leaving you wanting more.

So if you’re in doubt, it’s probably be better to be safe than sorry & stick to foods on the Banting Green List
