Easy Low-Carb Keto Porridge

It’s because oats are grains, as well as carb-heavy, that don’t fit into a healthy low-carb, Paleo, Banting, or Keto way of eating.

However, because porridge is such a popular breakfast option, this Keto porridge ticks all the boxes for a tasty nutritious low-carb bowl of “oatmeal”.

Keto Porridge Recipe

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup of crushed almonds
  • ½ cup of hemp seeds
  • 1 tablespoon of xylitol
  • 1 cup of non– dairy milk
  • 2 tablespoons of freshly ground flax seeds
  • ¾ teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon of hemp seeds for the topping

Instructions

  1. Mix ingredients except the topping and the almonds in a saucepan and stir well until they are properly mixed.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat until it begins to boil lightly.
  3. Stir once and let it cook for 1 to 2 minutes.
  4. Once it’s cooked through, remove the porridge from the heat and add in the ground almonds, and then pour into a medium-sized bowl.
  5. Add toppings of hemp seeds and berries then serve right away. 

Nutritional Information

Net carbs per serving: 4 grams.

This is very low compared to a traditional bowl of oats that is not low-carb or keto-friendly as a 100g serving contains more than 12g of carbohydrates.

This Keto Porridge also packs in some healthy fibre including the chia seeds, which are a superfood full of omega-3 essential fatty acids, and the flaxseed for extra nutritional value.

You can adapt this Keto porridge recipe to an overnight oats low-carb breakfast which many people prefer.

All you would need to change is to not heat the mixture and to soak it in your favourite low-carb liquid or juice.
