Best Banting Millionaire Squares
These Banting friendly millionaire squares provide you with arguably the best alternative to the unhealthy version of these treats.
It’s difficult to imagine anything beating the original millionaire shortbread when it comes to experiencing that sweet pleasure, but these healthy “millionaire squares” will take you to heaven & back for more.
Whilst they look a lot like millionaire shortbread squares, and taste similar (but better) them, they should be more accurately called almond & chocolate treats which don’t require any baking at all.
Anyhow, whatever you would like to call them they really do come up with the perfect “no-guilt solution” for those times when you crave something really decadent.
No Bake Almond & Chocolate Treat Recipe
Ingredients
- 350 grams chocolate spread
- 200 grams unsalted butter (grass-fed)
- ½ cup dark chocolate chips
- ¼ cup xylitol (optional)
- 200 grams ground almonds
- ½ cup chopped almonds or hazelnuts (optional)
Topping Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons dark chocolate
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (grass-fed)
Method
Bars
- Line a 22cm x 22cm Pyrex glass dish with baking paper
- In a small saucepan combine the chocolate spread, butter, chocolate chips and xylitol (optional).
- Stir until melted and remove from heat
- Stir in ground almonds and chopped almonds or hazelnuts (optional)
- Pour into prepared dish and press down evenly
- Place in fridge for a couple of hours until firm
Topping
- Place the dark chocolate and unsalted butter in a heatproof glass dish
- Melt this over a pan of simmering water, stirring until melted
- Spread this topping over the bars and place back in the fridge until set.
Once chocolate topping is set, cut into squares or bars.
