Dairy isn’t, but is almond milk on the Paleo diet?
Most Paleo eaters are aware that cow’s milk is not Paleo-approved but are not sure whether almond milk is 100% Paleo-approved.
Well almonds (organic are best) are Paleo friendly & so is water, therefore combining the two into some sort of almond milk should be fine.
The only concern you should have is consuming mass-produced almond milk that could contain loads of sugar, chemicals or other non-Paleo-approved ingredients to make it taste good.
However, homemade almond milk should pass the Paleo test.
So, whilst we’ve established that Almond milk is indeed Paleo, it would be useful to know whether it is in fact any good for you.
Well, here are some reasons you should drink it.
5 Good Reasons to Drink Almond Milk
1. It’s Not Fattening
If you’re trying to lose weight then Almond milk is a far better option than cow’s milk.
For starters, a glass of almond milk will only have about 50 calories, compared to the 150 or so in a glass of full cream milk.
Don’t even think about going for the low-fat or fat-free milk as it is probably full of sugar & other additives to make it taste good.
So almond milk is a good option for anyone trying to lose or maintain their weight.
2. Healthy Heart
Almond milk has been found to reduce the risk of heart disease, bad cholesterol, diabetes & obesity.
3. Great for Controlling Blood Sugar Levels
Organic almond milk, without sugar & other chemicals, is almost carb-free but whatever carbohydrate there is, is processed as energy & won’t cause insulin issues or get stored as fat.
4. It’s Good for the Gut
Cow’s milk is famous for causing gut issues, especially for those who are lactose intolerant.
Almond milk, on the other hand, promotes gut health as it’s lactose-free as well as low in sugars & carbs.
5. You Can Make It at Home

Organic almond milk is easy to make & doesn’t even require refrigeration although drinking it slightly chilled might be preferable.
More health benefits of almond milk are that it’s rich in nutrients like vitamin E and calcium and high in riboflavin, or vitamin B2, which helps maintain a healthy metabolism.
