Breakfast Smoothie Bowl

This deliciously healthy breakfast smoothie bowl recipe is ideal for anyone on a Banting, Paleo or Keto diet.

Not only is it low-carb and ultra healthy, it’s really quick & easy to put together – it takes less than 5 minutes to make.

This smoothie bowl makes a delicious and filling low-carb, gut healthy breakfast especially if you’re tired of eating eggs every morning.

One of the best things about making a breakfast smoothie bowl is the variety of options you can choose from without skimping on the nutritional goodness.

You can throw in any combination of berries, nuts & seeds to make an awesome start to your day with this gut healthy breakfast.

Smoothie Bowl Recipe

Ingredients

  • 250ml coconut cream (previously refrigerated to thicken)
  • 6 strawberries chopped
  • Coconut chips
  • Extra sliced strawberries and blackberries

Method

  • Using a hand blender, blitz the strawberries into the coconut cream
  • Pour into a medium bowl and decorate with coconut chips, sliced strawberries and blackberries

As you can see, this delicious smoothie bowl is really easy to whip up and really nutritious.

If you prefer you can substitute the coconut cream with full fat, organic yogurt (stick to coconut cream if you’re on Paleo as dairy isn’t allowed) and add flax seeds & nuts if you like.

In fact you can go with whatever your mood dictates as long as you stick to ingredients on the Banting green list of foods.

You don’t need to stick with the strawberries as you can add blackberries & raspberries or blueberries for a mixed berry smoothie bowl.

If you’re watching your weight and trying to be careful with your carbohydrate consumption, just remember that blackberries, strawberries & raspberries contain the least amount of carbs when it comes to berries.

Personally, I love blueberries but they contain double the amount of carbs as the others.

Smoothie bowls make a delicious, nutritious, light & refreshing breakfast and can be eaten at any time of year for a satisfying & filling meal.

What’s the Difference Between a Smoothie Bowl and a Regular Smoothie?

If you’re wondering how this differs from a regular smoothie, it’s essentially the same but different.

A smoothie bowl is basically a thicker version of a smoothie but can’t be sipped through a straw which means you’ll need a spoon to eat it.

Also, having a thicker consistency, smoothie bowls beat regular smoothies hands down for richness & heavenly taste.
